Last year, the Altona and Area Empty Stocking Fund provided Christmas hampers for 165 families and gifts for more than 400 children. Red River Mutual staff members raised $3,972 towards the Empty Stocking Fund. Red River matched these funds for a total of $7,944. Staff members raised the funds by organizing a Walk-N-Roll-A-Thon on June 11, 2009.
The event included a choice of three different routes to walk, run, rollerblade or cycle. Participants raised funds through seeking pledges and the day ended with a BBQ in the park.
