Desktop Support Technician

To support our continued growth and improve the quality of our service offering, we are seeking an individual with strong communication and problem-solving skills to join our team as a Desktop Support Technician. Reporting to the IT Manager, this role will support the day-to-day IT environment at Red River Mutual.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install new hardware and desktop software as required, including upgrades to existing software applications
  • Perform new user set-up for the windows system
  • Perform trouble-shooting on technical problems relating to hardware and software configurations
  • Perform functional and user system testing on new hardware and software products
  • Provide first-line technical support for all Red River Mutual systems users
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the network and other systems
  • Perform hardware diagnostics, routine moves, adds and changes
  • Performing desktop and infrastructure related quality assurance testing, writing procedures, and developing end user communications and departmental documentation
  • Other specific tasks and projects, as assigned

Experience/Education/Skills and Attributes:

  • Qualified candidates will have an Information Technology Degree or Diploma, or relevant industry certifications (MCP, MCSE), combined with a minimum of 3 years experience
  • A high level of proficiency supporting Microsoft products; including, but not limited to Windows XP/W7, and Office 2007/2010
  • Must have knowledge of networking concepts, network and desktop operating systems, server relationships, desktop hardware and software, desktop and network peripherals, and printing concepts
  • The successful candidate will possess strong organizational & time management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills are essential
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced highly technical environment
  • Must be able to interface effectively with various business units, end users, vendors, and information technology partners

Network Administrator

To support our continued growth and improve the quality of our service offering, we are seeking an experienced Network Administrator. Reporting to the IT Manager, the Network Administrator will provide day-to-day user and network support, maintenance, troubleshooting, installation and training in the areas of computer software, hardware, peripherals and telephone equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Physical and Virtual Server deployment, support, and overall management for a variety of OS and Application systems across a VMware virtualization platform
  • Manage, maintain, and update a support issue/change management system to track all items to resolution and to identify support trends
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions that will enhance business processes. Review network utilization and performance trends and suggest future requirements to maintain acceptable performance levels and accommodate corporate traffic growth
  • Work on infrastructure/network related projects such as operating system and hardware upgrades, network expansion and deployment of network applications
  • Overall management, support, and development of the existing Active Directory Services (ADS)
  • Fundamental understanding of Core Active Directory roles and functions, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Management, and all associated ADS functions
  • Managing, supporting, and maintaining central back-up solutions including backup and restores
    as required
  • Perform Information Services Help Desk functions; logging service requests and provides support to end-users as needed
  • Create and maintain procedures and documentation for internal use
  • Assist on projects or special initiatives as assigned

Experience/Education/Skills and Attributes:

  • Information Technology Degree or Diploma, combined with relevant industry certifications (MCSE/CCNP), combined with a minimum of 5 years experience supporting Windows Servers and network infrastructure
  • Capable of supporting Windows Servers, Microsoft Exchange and have experience with backups and VMware.
  • Experience troubleshooting large enterprise LAN/WAN technology, to include routing, switching, wireless, VPN technology, and application load balancing
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must have ability to work independently as well on a team, good communication skills and be client service oriented
  • Must have demonstrated strong professional judgment and time management skills
