Underwriter

As an insurance underwriter, you review and evaluate applications for insurance to determine risks, premiums and the extent of coverage. A key facet of the job is to develop and maintain positive broker relations in the effort to jointly deliver the best possible service to existing and potential policyholders.

• Professional, courteous and friendly in all interactions with brokers and co-workers
• Strong study skills and a methodical approach to work
• Mathematical and analytical proficiency
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to work in high-pressure situations

Qualifications:

• Minimum high school diploma
• A community college diploma or university undergraduate degree is preferred
• CIP designation an asset
• Good computer skills

Claims Specialist

As a claims specialist, you help policyholders navigate the claims process in a compassionate, responsive manner. You evaluate damage caused to property or people in the event of loss or accident. In addition to assessing claims, you will negotiate settlements and authorize payments to policyholders.

Personal Characteristics:

• Strong inter-personal skills
• Ability to analyze information and make decisions in an efficient, impartial manner
• Ability to remain calm in situations that are upsetting and stressful for people
• Solid organizational skills and the ability to work on several claims at one time
• Good interviewing, writing and negotiation skills

Qualifications:

• Minimum high school diploma
• Drivers license
• A community college diploma or university undergraduate degree is preferred
• CIP designation an asset
• Good computer skills
